Praying Without Results Can Be Tough
Praying Without Results Can Be Tough | August 21, 2023
A cartoon pictured a little boy kneeling in prayer before bed, but he was disgruntled with the results of his prayers. He said, "Aunt Harriet hasn't gotten married, Uncle Hubert hasn't any work, and Daddy's hair is still falling out… I'm getting tired of praying for this family without getting any results!"
Like this young lad and many others, you will go through seasons when heaven seems silent. You are praying, living right committed to the church, yet your prayers remain unanswered. Meanwhile, co-workers, friends, and even some enemies prosper without the desire to seek God. All of this can be extremely frustrating and tough on you mentally. But does this mean you are a lousy Christian or have weak faith? No, it signifies you are human and will process disappointment over your problems, pressures, and people drama personally because you care. Thus, don't go down the hole of self-doubt and negative thought. Instead, refocus on what you know to be true, God's Word.
Psalm 27:14 says, "Wait for the Lord; be strong, and let your heart take courage; wait for the Lord!"
When you're not receiving any answers to your prayers and you’re right with the Lord, our command repeatedly in Scripture is to wait. Yes, this posture of patience can be painful and draining, but in God's infinite wisdom, it is necessary to accomplish His purpose and plans for you. Therefore, don't lose heart. Stay the course and be willing to release your timetable and strategy to the Lord.
See, we need to be like David and trust God. When his enemies were on his heels, he doubled down in his waiting, and we need to do the same. In Psalm 37:34, David declares, "Don't be impatient for the Lord to act! Keep traveling steadily along his pathway, and in due season he will honor you with every blessing, and you will see the wicked destroyed."
Keep praying and wait on the Lord no matter what you are facing.
