Slow Down To Deal With Stress

Slow Down To Deal With Stress | August 13th
Years ago, a couple came to me saying they were relocating to the West Coast to escape their problems. However, just two weeks into their new setting, they realized the issues and stressors moved with them!
No matter how hard you try, you cannot outrun the stress that results from your problems. Therefore, to effectively deal with anxiety, you need to be willing to slow down and listen to God.
When teaching about the reality of struggles and stress, Jesus instructed the crowds to listen. Matthew 7:24 says, "Anyone who listens to my teaching and follows it is wise, like a person who builds a house on solid rock.”
We must remember that it's never a matter of "if" but "when" stress will come. Contrary to misconception, problems and stress are inevitable. Every person, to some degree, has difficulties. Yes, the grass appears greener in other places, but realistically, it is greener where you water it!
Jesus continued, "Though the rain comes in torrents and the floodwaters rise and the winds beat against that house, it won't collapse because it is built on bedrock. 26 But anyone who hears my teaching and doesn't obey it is foolish, like a person who builds a house on sand. 27 When the rains and floods come and the winds beat against that house, it will collapse with a mighty crash." Matthew 7:25-27
Though stress will come and cause some damage, you can still stand firm because you have listened to Jesus' teachings and the promises of Almighty God. This foundation is not based on feelings or some mystical version of Christianity. Instead, it is based on God's word, where you have a reason for hope because of what God has promised to do in your life.
Start responding to your stress productively by slowing down and listening to what God is saying to you.
