Do Your Own Year-End Review | December 28th
A productive way to set goals is to reflect on your accomplishments and missed opportunities from the previous year. So today, you can do this by evaluating how you spent your time in 2024.
Ephesians 5:15-17 says, "Look carefully then how you walk, not as unwise but as wise, making the best use of the time because the days are evil. Therefore, do not be foolish, but understand what the will of the Lord is."
With time as our focal point, there are two critical areas for you to review:
First, assess how you spend your time and check whether it aligns with God's approval. Consider the following questions: What are your responsibilities, and are they necessary? Family, work, and school responsibilities often come automatically, but what about the other minutes of your day? Are there some responsibilities that you should delegate or eliminate? Are you fulfilling God's purpose for you?
You might find it necessary to remove some tasks from your list that aren't yielding any results—in other words, activities that do not glorify God or advance His kingdom in your life. More importantly, if you have any hidden habits that go against God's will for your life, it’s essential to confess them immediately. Doing so is crucial if you desire a breakthrough in the new year.
Your second area of evaluation is relationships. Start by evaluating the relationships in your life. Identify which ones are helping you grow and which ones are not. Be cautious about who you allow to influence you, as those in your inner circle can significantly impact your life. It’s essential to surround yourself with the right people. Consider distancing yourself from harmful or unhealthy voices. You need individuals who will challenge, encourage, and support you through prayer.
At the same time, reflect on how you treat others. Are you seen as a trusted friend and a Christ-like example? Are you lifting people or bringing them down with a negative attitude? If you have been judgmental or harboring feelings of revenge, it's time to acknowledge that behavior. Commit to being a blessing to others in the new year. You may realize you have spent too much time being hurtful and selfish instead of merciful and selfless.
You can enhance your present and future by reflecting on the past and altering unproductive behaviors.
