Wellness And Your Words

Wellness And Your Words | July 21st

Clean nutritional meal plans, custom workout programs, and mindfulness practices are pathways to greater health. However, if you're seeking to thrive wholly, don't leave out your mouth! Psalm 34:12-13 says, "Whoever of you loves life and desires to see many good days, 13 keep your tongue from evil and your lips from telling lies."
Notice that Scripture says that your wellness is tied to your words. At first glance, this may seem insignificant, but in spiritual growth and prospering in life, how you talk to others is essential because it represents something far deeper. In Luke 6:45, Jesus said, "A good person produces good things from the treasury of a good heart, and an evil person produces evil things from the treasury of an evil heart. What you say flows from what is in your heart."

Jesus said your mouth speaks based upon what is in your heart. If nothing but anger comes out, that might indicate some unresolved issues in your life. If gossip rolls off your tongue, you miss the message of grace and honor. If mean-spirited words come from your lips, it indicates your lack of mercy. If fearful talk is flying from your chops, you have a faith problem. The opposite is also true: if you are blessing people with kind words, appreciating others, and encouraging those around you with inspiration from the Lord, it shows a healthy heart, and that leads to blessing.

Therefore, according to Jesus in Luke 6 and David in Psalm 34, a flourishing life results from a healthy flow that begins in your heart and comes out through your mouth. If you want God's blessings, the respect of others, and a flourishing life, recognize that wellness is connected to your words.
