God's Perfect Faithfulness

God's Perfect Faithfulness | January 4, 2024
According to the Cambridge Dictionary, "Perfect" means to be complete and correct in every way, of the best possible type or without fault. The Merriam-Webster Dictionary defines perfect as flawless, entirely without fault or defect.
Typically, our understanding of perfection is measured in superficial things like having nice hair or a specific color of eyes. Sometimes, we say, "he's got the perfect height or smile; she's at the perfect weight."
Although we have definitions and pictures in our heads about perfection, it's an impossible term to wrap our minds around from a human standpoint because, in reality, perfection does not exist in our circles of life. Also, the goal of being perfect is unattainable.
While perfection is not human, it certainly is divine. God is every bit of perfection, which means His character qualities, especially His expressions of faithfulness, are also perfect. Isaiah 25:1 says, "O Lord, you are my God; I will exalt you. I will praise your name, for you have accomplished wonders, plans formed long ago, with perfect faithfulness."
He is faithful to help us with temptation. "...God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it" (First Corinthians 10:13).
He is faithful to forgive us. "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness" (First John 1:9).
He is faithful in providing protection and strength against the evil one. "But the Lord is faithful, and he will strengthen you and protect you from the evil one" (Second Thessalonians 3:3).
He is faithful even when we are not! "If we are unfaithful, he remains faithful, for he cannot deny who he is" (Second Timothy 2:13).
His faithfulness is our motivation for commitment. "Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering for he who promised is faithful" (Hebrews 10:23).
Knowing this, we can believe God confidently in that He acts and moves with flawless faithfulness and purpose. He will never take a break or forsake His responsibility to be faithful to His people.
