Trust God To Provide

Trust God To Provide | July 20th

According to the Smithsonian's National Zoo And Conservation Biology Institute, "Lions have strong, compact bodies and powerful forelegs, teeth and jaws for pulling down and killing prey." Concerning their eating capabilities, the Smithsonian reported, "Lions primarily eat large animals that weigh from 100 to 1,000 pounds (45 to 453 kilograms), such as zebra and wildebeest. In times of shortage, they also catch and eat a variety of smaller animals, from rodents to reptiles. Lions also steal kills from hyenas, leopards, and other predators."

However, even though lions are undeniably powerful and impressive animals, sometimes their age, lingering injuries from previous fights, and sores may hinder their ability to eat.
David used the understanding of a lion's resourcefulness and strength to illustrate our trust in God's goodness and His promise to provide. Psalm 34:10 says, "Even strong young lions sometimes go hungry, but those who trust in the Lord will lack no good thing."

David thought that perhaps the animal with the best chance of fending for itself and eating was the lion, but even this indomitable animal, with its unmatched strength and speed, could go hungry. Nevertheless, David added that this same potential for lack was not so with God's people when they trusted Him for their needs.

Although David was not a lion whisperer, he had harrowing experiences with the big cats while protecting his father's sheep and understood their strength and vulnerabilities (First Samuel 17:34-36).
T
herefore, take this example to heart and know you can trust God to provide. As you seek and trust God, the Scriptures promise you will not lack. Philippians 4:19 declares, "And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus."
