Lord Hear Our Prayer
Lord Hear Our Prayer | July 30th
Have you noticed that the Scripture contains heartfelt petitions and calls for God to "hear our prayer?" The statement is more for the praying believer than the Lord. In praying this way, they were essentially reassuring their conviction that God does indeed have the capability to hear the very needs they present.
For example, consider these verses:
Psalm 39:12, "Hear my prayer, O LORD, and give ear to my cry for help; do not be deaf to my weeping. For I am a foreigner dwelling with You, a stranger like all my fathers."
Psalm 141:1, "I call upon You, O LORD; come quickly to me. Hear my voice when I call to You."
Psalm 143:1, "Hear my prayer, O LORD; listen to my plea! Answer me because you are faithful and righteous." We can pray with confidence and conviction, provided we are on the solid ground of God's path. Supporting evil or living a double life interrupts our prayers and impedes the Spirit from moving.
Proverbs 15:29 tells us, "The Lord is far from the wicked, but he hears the prayer of the righteous." The call to ask the Lord to hear our prayers comes from a place of obedience.
You see, God is looking for faithful people and promises to reward them accordingly, but He will oppose the person committed to evil. First Peter 3:12 says, "For the eyes of the Lord are on the righteous, and his ears are attentive to their prayer, but the face of the Lord is against those who do evil."
Therefore, walk in faith and obedience, humbly knowing God's provision is coming. Also, be sure to be generous with your prayers. Pray for the needs of others and our nation, especially now. First John 5:14 says, "And this is the confidence that we have toward him, that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us."
As believers, we can say along with the Psalmist, "The Lord has heard my supplication; the Lord will receive my prayer." Psalm 6:9
