God Has Super Bowls Of Blessing

God Has Super Bowls Of Blessing | February 11, 2024
According to Time Magazine, the iconic term "Super Bowl" was an idea that came from the legendary founder of the American Football League and owner of the Kansas City Chiefs, Lamar Hunt Sr. Since that time, the Super Bowl has become the most watched annual sporting event and generates millions of dollars in revenue.
The Bible also speaks of bowls of significant value. In ancient times, women used "kneading bowls" to pound and form dough when making bread. If they used bowls made from poor quality, the bowls would break, and they would not be able to fulfill their responsibility of making the bread. Thus, the endorsement of items like bowls, baskets, and farming tools represented how people received their blessings.
Deuteronomy 28:1-6 says, "And if you faithfully obey the voice of the Lord your God, being careful to do all his commandments that I command you today, the Lord your God will set you high above all the nations of the earth.2 And all these blessings shall come upon you and overtake you, if you obey the voice of the Lord your God. 3 Blessed shall you be in the city, and blessed shall you be in the field. 4 Blessed shall be the fruit of your womb and the fruit of your ground and the fruit of your cattle, the increase of your herds and the young of your flock. 5 Blessed shall be your basket and your kneading bowl. 6 Blessed shall you be when you come in, and blessed shall you be when you go out."
Deuteronomy 28 is the fourth longest chapter in the Bible, containing 1,829 words and 68 verses. In this lengthy chapter, God details excellent promises in His blessing on the nation of Israel if they obey His words. However, He also explains what would happen if they didn't follow after Him! While this message was primarily given to Israel, the word has been preserved for us to learn much about God's desire to bless His children.
If we trust God and wait on Him, He will send super bowls of blessing. For Israel, it was kneading bowls; for you, it may be your family, health, or money situation. Whatever the need, God takes great pleasure in blessing His children when they depend on and trust Him.
Enjoy the game and, more importantly, God's Super Bowls of blessing!
