God's Refuge Is Your Umbrella

God's Refuge Is Your Umbrella | October 7, 2023
A good umbrella is a valued possession, especially when you encounter seasons of prolonged rain. But what makes for a reliable umbrella? According to studies, a suitable umbrella should primarily be sturdy enough to withstand the inclement weather conditions of rain and wind. Also, the ability to quickly open and close the umbrella is essential. Finally, the umbrella needs to be durable in its longevity.
Think of God's refuge as His umbrella for you. God is your refuge when the downpours of problems come. God is your refuge when the winds of worry swirl your way. Many of God's embattled people believed in the certainty of His refuge, which proved to be a sustaining factor in their survival and eventual success. No wonder there are nearly 50 references to God's refuge (His covering) in the Psalms alone. See, our heavenly Father has always been praised and recognized as an umbrella of safety and strength for His people.
Psalm 62:8 declares, "Trust in him at all times, you people; pour out your hearts to him, for God is our refuge."
Psalm 71:3a says, "Be my rock of refuge, to which I can always go..."
Psalm 118:8 states, "It is better to take refuge in the Lord than to trust in people."
Knowing this, let us trust the refuge that God supplies implicitly. He is faithful to provide protective shelter from the storms of life.
