Stress Is Solvable

Stress Is Solvable | July 3, 2025

Regardless of whether you are a mathematician or someone who finds the subject challenging, the principles for solving equations are the same for everyone. It's essential to carefully read and understand the math problem, review your work, develop a plan, and then solve it. This same approach can be applied to managing stress because, contrary to popular belief, stress is a challenge that can be addressed and resolved.
First, understand that most of the stress we choose to focus on is unnecessary and unproductive. Matthew 6:27, 31-33, "Jesus said, 'Can all your worries add a single moment to your life? 31 So don't worry about these things, saying, What will we eat? What will we drink? What will we wear? 32 These things dominate the thoughts of unbelievers, but your heavenly Father already knows all your needs.' "
According to Jesus, worrying about things does not contribute to your health and well-being. It's natural to have concerns about fulfilling your responsibilities, but when those concerns turn into worries, you've crossed into unproductive thinking, which offers no benefits. Therefore, take the time to evaluate your stressors and determine if they are valid. Then, ask yourself what promises God has already made to provide for you.
Secondly, stop dwelling on negative thoughts and start focusing on healthy ones. For example, when solving a math problem, you need to have a plan. The same holds for stress.
Philippians 4:8 says, "Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable—if there is any moral excellence and if there is anything praiseworthy—dwell on these things." You will notice that each of these focal points represents soundness of mind and leads to stability between the ears. It is impossible to maintain a positive mindset when focused on negativity or wrongdoing.
Finally, count your blessings to reduce your stress burden. In mathematics, certain equations require the use of a calculator. Likewise, your stress problems can be solved by totaling your past and current provisions. Psalm 103:2 says,"Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits."
By God's grace, stress is solvable!
