Beware Of A Crab Mentality

Have you ever been around a bucket of crabs? If so, you will notice an interesting phenomenon. When one crab tries to climb out of the bucket, the other crabs pull him back down!

‌While we may not be in a bucket, we do rub shoulders with each other in classrooms, offices, locker rooms, and churches. It's very easy for a crab mentality to take over these settings as well. Either you will be the crab trying to get ahead with a new idea for your business, a wise choice for your family, or a decision not to quit on your dream, while others around you will try to hold you back. Another scenario is that you are the crab pulling others down with your self-righteous attitude or negativity.

‌Regardless of which side of the bucket you are on, reject having a crab mentality. Keep climbing and striving toward your goals and the best version of yourself, no matter who tries to discourage you. See, God has plans for you that He has put in motion long before those crabs trying to hold you back came around. Ephesians 2:10 says, "For we are God's masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago."

‌If you are the crab pulling others back with your jealous, insecure, and unsolicited opinions, immediately stop before God moves you out of the way altogether. Remember, God has called you to be a blessing to others, and one of the ways you do that is by encouraging others. First Thessalonians 5:11 says, "Therefore encourage one another and build one another up, just as you are doing."

‌Therefore, get rid of that crab mentality and follow God's plans for your life.
