God Acts On Behalf Of Those Who Wait On Him

God Acts On Behalf Of Those Who Wait On Him | October 3, 2023
When it comes to waiting for someone to do something, it can carry a negative connotation. For example, if a friend owes you a favor but has yet to follow through. Perhaps you need help, but the other person is dragging their feet. That's where the phrase if you want something done right, do it yourself applies. But that mantra isn't practical with some of the more pressing and significant issues we are wrestling with today. Let's face it: many of the big ticket items in life require waiting, but we don't have to look at waiting on God in the same light we do with each other. See, when it comes to waiting on God, there is always a purpose behind the timing.
A common thread woven throughout the Scriptures is the blessing from waiting on God. For example, Abraham and Sarah waited for a son, as did Rachel and Hannah. Joseph waited for God while serving an unjust prison sentence. Moses waited for God to lead the Israelites out of Egyptian bondage. Joshua waited for God to open up the path to the Promised Land. Ruth waited on God for a husband. David waited on God for refuge when facing trials. Elijah waited on God for victory. Jehoshaphat waited on God for victory over military enemies. Daniel waited on God when He was in the lion's den. Simeon was waiting on God for the Messiah. The disciples waited on God for the sending of the Holy Spirit. Paul waited on God for provision. And the church in every generation is waiting on the events of the Second Coming of Christ.
In these examples and your own, you will notice that God acts on behalf of those who faithfully wait on Him. Isaiah 64:3-4 declares, "For when you did awesome things that we did not expect, you came down, and the mountains trembled before you.4 Since ancient times, no one has heard, no ear has perceived, no eye has seen any God besides you, who acts on behalf of those who wait for him."
Knowing this, remain confident that God hears your prayers and remains busy working while you wait for Him to act. Therefore, keep seeking Him with patience for provision, salvation for family, and direction.
