Thinking Like A Servant

Thinking Like A Servant | Thursday, October 30, 2025
You need to think differently when living for God and doing what He wills. See, society often promotes the ideas of self-ambition and instant gratification. While these concepts are not inherently harmful, they should be pursued in a way that aligns with God's approval. If we do not approach them this way, we risk becoming self-centered, undisciplined, and ineffective for the kingdom. That is why we need a mindset different from what the world offers.
In Numbers 14:24, God says, "My servant Caleb thinks differently..."
We must be like Caleb and adopt a servant's mindset when serving God's plans and purposes. Often, this requires a change in our thinking. What adjustments to your thoughts might you need to make? To help you with that question, consider the following:
First, remember, you were set free to serve. Galatians 5:13 says, "For you have been called to live in freedom, my brothers and sisters. But don’t use your freedom to satisfy your sinful nature. Instead, use your freedom to serve one another in love." God didn't rescue you from sin and death only for us to go back to being slaves to unbelief and darkness. Use your freedom wisely. To whom much is given, much is required.
Secondly, refuse to be selfish with your blessings. First Peter 4:10 says, "God has given each of you a gift from his great variety of spiritual gifts. Use them well to serve one another." God celebrated your birth by giving you natural abilities/gifts. When you accepted Christ as Savior, God celebrated your spiritual birth by giving you "spiritual gifts." Together, your natural abilities and spiritual gifts provide a means for serving. Whether it's kindness and hospitality or administration, counseling, teaching, or giving, we are blessed to be a blessing (Genesis 12:2).
Knowing this, reject any contaminated thoughts and pray against the constant temptations of selfishness and narcissism. Strive to think like a servant, and leave the result to God.
