New Year's Revolution

New Year's Revolution | January 1, 2026 (5 am Release)
A humorous list of "anti-resolutions" circulated one year: "I resolve to gain weight, stop exercising, read less, watch more TV, procrastinate more, and never make New Year's resolutions again!"
According to statistics, most resolutions we make don't last past the third week of January. Therefore, what we truly need is not just another list of self-improvement promises that leaves us feeling guilty when we break them, but a revolution—a complete turning point in which we follow Christ's light for true new life. We must remember that human willpower eventually fades, but God's transformation endures even through the toughest tests.
As you step into a new year, start your journey by asking the Holy Spirit to examine your heart and mind. If anything offensive to God arises, confess it immediately. First John 1:9 declares, "But if we confess our sins to him, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all wickedness."
Next, take a moment to share any worries that are on your mind with God. Just because the calendar changes to a new year doesn't mean your pains, problems, and pressures disappear. Likewise, make it a habit to talk to God about your troubles; He already knows what you're facing and cares for you. Psalm 55:22, "Cast your cares on the Lord, and he will sustain you; he will never let the righteous be shaken."
Finally, at the beginning of this year, commit to using your time, talents, and resources (money) for wise and righteous purposes. Nothing can lead us off course more quickly than wasteful living, and it also makes us more vulnerable to common challenges like temptation and discouragement. Thus, adopt the perspective in 2026 that says, "Whatever I do, I want to honour God." Colossians 3:17 says, "And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him."
If we keep short accounts with God through confession, release our worries in prayer, and wisely manage our blessings, we will experience an internal transformation. This change will lead to a visible revolution in our spiritual, emotional, and relational lives. Remember, implementing these practices will run alongside the wisdom of reading the Scripture and doing your daily devotionals.
To help you persevere and be successful in the new year, our next few devotions will focus on spiritual habits that lead to growth.
