God's Miraculous Power | October 1, 2025
When reading the Bible, we are often challenged to make healthy changes, take new steps, and have a better attitude. While these are all commendable actions, if we stopped at positivity and focusing on just the natural aspects of life that we can control, we would be missing out on the main course! See, the Scriptures serve as a story of God's miraculous power.
There are miracles over nature such as the Parting of the Red Sea in Exodus 14, Jonah and the Whale in Jonah 1:17, Daniel and the Lion's Den in Daniel 6:21-22, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego’s preservation in the fiery furnace Daniel 3, The Virgin Birth of Christ in Matthew 1:18-25, Jesus Calming the Storm in Matthew 8:23-27, and Jesus Walkiing On Water in Matthew 14:25-27.
There are countless miracles of healing, such as Jesus healing Peter's mother-in-law in Luke 4:38-40, The Hemorrhaging Woman in Luke 8:43-48, The Nobleman's Son in John 4:46-50, The Man With Leprosy in Mark 1:40-45, and The Paralytic Man in Matthew 9.
There are miracles of amazing provision. For example, in the Old Testament, God provided manna from heaven for His people, as told in Exodus 16:4. He provided oil for the widow in 2 Kings 4:1-17. Jesus turned water into wine at the wedding in John 2 and on at least two occasions, Jesus fed the multitudes as documented in Matthew 14 and 15.
The greatest reminder of God's miraculous power is the miracle of resurrection. In the Old Testament the widow's son at Zarephath 1 Kings 17, Elisha’s raising the Shunamite woman’s son 2 Kings 4, Jesus’ raising of the widow of Nain’s son Luke 7, Jairus’s daughter Luke 8, and Lazarus in John 11. We also have Peter’s raising of Tabitha in Acts 9 and Paul’s raising of Eutychus in Acts 20, and of course, the greatest miracle of all, the resurrection of Jesus, which is recorded in all four Gospels and prophesied in the Old Testament and noted in the New Testament.
All of these miracles give us precedent and reason to trust God for the miracles in our lives. Our family experienced God's miracle-working power when our extremely lovable Brandon was born.
Brandon was diagnosed in the womb with a condition called agenesis of the corpus callosum, which is the absence of the tissue that connects the left and right hemispheres of the brain. Several doctors advised my brother and sister-in-law to terminate the pregnancy. However, they chose to trust in God and leave the outcome in His hands. Thankfully, Brandon not only survived the pregnancy but has also continued to thrive four years later!
Psalm 77:14 says, "You are the God Who performs miracles; You display Your power among the peoples. Lord, thank You for displaying Your divine and miraculous power amongst all people."
Today, we find comfort and confidence in that verse. It’s a special day because Brandon is turning four. With each passing day, his life serves as a reminder that God cares about our concerns, that He hears our prayers, and has the final say. Even at such a young age, we can see a profound significance in Brandon’s life. We believe that God has a purpose for him and a testimony that will inspire others to keep trusting in God for their miracles.
To God be the glory for His goodness and His miracle-working power.
