Stop The Shame Cycle

Oxford Language Dictionary states that a cycle is a series of events regularly repeated in the same order. Some cycles serve good purposes. For example, there is an oxygen cycle, when plants and animals use oxygen to respire and return it to the air and water as carbon dioxide. There is a water cycle, meaning water from different bodies evaporates, cools, condenses, and falls back to the earth as rain. The biogeochemical cycle refers to the movement of nutrients and other elements between biotic and abiotic factors. Perhaps more familiar is the cycle setting for your washing machine, which allows your clothes to be washed the same way each time.

However, there are also destructive cycles in this life that, if not responded to correctly, can cause severe damage to your overall well-being. A harmful example is one you have to stop immediately: the shame cycle. This cycle is more often than not a result of our wrong choices, but it is also possible to incur shame from unfair and hurtful treatment from others. The urgency to break free from this destructive cycle is paramount.
Through my personal journey, I have discovered that seeking the Lord is not just a way but the only way to break free from the shame cycle. This realization has brought me immense hope and encouragement; it can do the same for you.

In Isaiah 61:7, God declared that there is no place for shame in His Son's kingdom plans when it says, "Instead of your shame there shall be a double portion; instead of dishonor they shall rejoice in their lot;
therefore in their land, they shall possess a double portion; they shall have everlasting joy." We can apply this proclamation to Jesus' First and Second Coming. For example, Jesus removed the shame label for the woman caught in adultery. John 8:10-11 says, "Then Jesus stood up again and said to the woman, 'Where are your accusers? Didn't even one of them condemn you?' 11 'No, Lord,' she said. And Jesus said, 'Neither do I. Go and sin no more.' "

Concerning the events leading to the Second Coming, Revelation 12:10-11 says, "Then I heard a loud voice shouting across the heavens, 'It has come at last—salvation and power and the Kingdom of our God, and the authority of his Christ. For the accuser of our brothers and sisters has been thrown down to earth—the one who accuses them before our God day and night. 11 And they have defeated him by the blood of the Lamb and by their testimony. And they did not love their lives so much that they were afraid to die.' "

Remember, there is no shame if you're in Christ. Romans 8:1 declares, "There is now no condemnation for those in Christ Jesus."
