Following The Right Wisdom

Following the Right Wisdom | November 2, 2026

Wisdom is defined as the ability to discern, think, reason, and act based on knowledge and understanding. Every attitude you display and every action you take reflects an inner wisdom that guides your life, whether you are conscious of it or not. Therefore, the question is not whether you possess wisdom, but rather which wisdom you are following.
There are forms of wisdom that are helpful, productive, and good. However, there is also wisdom that is harmful, counterproductive, and downright evil. The wrong kind of wisdom can be costly and set you back, while the right kind can propel you forward and open new doors of blessing.

The key to discerning the right wisdom is to clearly distinguish between God's wisdom and the world's wisdom. When I refer to the world's wisdom, I mean the twisted and harmful systems that exist within civilizations. This distinction is important because even if you don't intend to follow evil wisdom, you may be doing so unknowingly. Worldly wisdom often seems acceptable, useful, and initially appealing; however, in the long run, this misguided type of wisdom can imprison your mind and create unnecessary stress in your life.
Remember, it is God's will for His children to seek His wisdom for everyday life and for specific seasons of decision-making. His wisdom is exactly what we need for everything in life, such as personal difficulties, emotional fatigue, relational conflict, and spiritual guidance.

James 3:17 declares, "But the wisdom from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, open to reason, full of mercy and good fruits, impartial and sincere."

With this in mind, examine the type of wisdom you are following. To do so, consider your reactions to people-problems and life's stresses. Are you lashing out and cutting people off when things don't go your way? Are you resorting to slander and gossip to justify yourself? Are selfish ambition and pride guiding your actions? Do you make decisions out of fear? If you answered yes to any of these questions, you may have a wisdom problem. While it's easy to blame your circumstances, this is just the surface issue.

Instead of following misguided advice, seek God's wisdom. This will allow you to approach conflict without pride, fault-finding, or condemnation.

Likewise, you will be guided by faith in your decisions and can confidently leave the outcomes in God's hands.
