Believing In Resurrection Power

Believing In Resurrection Power | March 16, 2026

The Battle of Midway in 1942 is regarded as one of the greatest comebacks in American military history and a significant turning point in World War II. After the attack on Pearl Harbor, U.S. Navy forces used decoded Japanese communications to destroy four Japanese aircraft carriers, shifting the momentum of the war in the Pacific.
The Battle of Midway was significant, but the greatest comeback in any war belongs to Jesus. Through His resurrection, Christ conquered death, and anyone who puts their faith in Him alone can experience the power of resurrection. This power is clearly illustrated by the story of Lazarus, whom Jesus raised from the dead.

After Lazarus died, his sisters were heartbroken and told Jesus, as he arrived, that if he had been there sooner, he could have prevented it. John 11:25-26 captures Jesus' response: "I am the resurrection and the life. Anyone who believes in me will live, even after dying. 26 Everyone who lives in me and believes in me will never ever die. Do you believe this, Martha?" 27 "Yes, Lord," she told him. "I have always believed you are the Messiah, the Son of God, the one who has come into the world from God."

As great as the power of the resurrection is, and as well-documented an event as it is in the annals of history, you still have to answer the same question Jesus asked Martha: "Do you believe this?"

Remember, resurrection power means you will be raised to eternal life after you die on earth, so you will have your own comeback story to praise God for in eternity.

During his discussion on the resurrection, the Apostle Paul concluded his teaching by saying in First Corinthians 15:54-57: "Then, when our dying bodies have been transformed into bodies that will never die, this Scripture will be fulfilled: ‘Death is swallowed up in victory. 55 O death, where is your victory? O death, where is your sting?’ 56 For sin is the sting that results in death, and the law gives sin its power. 57 But thank God! He gives us victory over sin and death through our Lord Jesus Christ. 58 So, my dear brothers and sisters, be strong and immovable. Always work enthusiastically for the Lord, for you know that nothing you do for the Lord is ever useless.”
