Guard The Trust

Guard The Trust | June 6, 2026

When the Crown Jewels of the United Kingdom are not on display, they are kept under intense security. Multiple layers of protection, including surveillance systems, armed guards, and secure vaults, safeguard them. Why? Because their value dictates the level of protection they receive. No one would leave something so precious unguarded.

The same principle applies to our spiritual lives. God has entrusted each of us with treasures far more valuable than gold or jewels—our faith, our families, our testimonies, our gifts, and the gospel itself. Unfortunately, many people meticulously protect their material possessions while neglecting the things that matter most. Scripture reminds us that what God has entrusted to us is worth guarding. The question is not whether we have been given something valuable; the question is whether we are faithfully protecting it.

On several notable occasions, the Apostle Paul encouraged his young apprentice, Timothy, to be faithful in guarding what God had entrusted to him. For example, in First Timothy 6:20, Paul said, "O Timothy, guard what has been entrusted to you..."
And again in Second Timothy 1:14, "Guard, through the Holy Spirit who dwells in us, the treasure which has been entrusted to you."

God has entrusted each of us with something extremely valuable called trust. This blessing can be understood, first and foremost, as our faith, but it doesn’t stop there! With faith as our foundational trust, God has also entrusted to us the care of our family, our affluence, our influence, our gifts, our resources, and our opportunities. None of this is accidental or coincidental.

Remember, we are not owners of these blessings; rather, we are managers. In a world full of challenges, distractions, temptations, and spiritual challenges, God calls His people to faithfully protect what He has given them.

That is why opportunities like attending church, going to Bible study groups, and special events like the annual retreats will encourage each of us to take our God-given responsibilities seriously, to stand firm in our beliefs, and to diligently manage the trust that God has placed in our hands. Once again, the important question is not whether God has entrusted us with something valuable, but whether we are faithfully guarding it.
