What Is God’s Best? | June 4, 2026

A guiding question that has significantly influenced my decisions—whether financial, emotional, relational, or spiritual—is "What is God's best?" I learned this essential question from an accountability partner who has more life experience than I do, and it has become a time-tested perspective shaped by his own challenges, one that continues to serve him well.

One reason I appreciate this question is that it encourages us to move away from the self-centered inquiry of, "What is best for me?" When we focus too much on ourselves, we often worry more and pray less; we stress more and trust less. Knowing our propensity to go down unproductive paths, in His infinite wisdom, God has left a special message from Jesus about these realities.

In Matthew 6:25-34, Jesus spoke directly about our practical needs, His provision, and our perspective to seek His best when he said: “Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes? 26 Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? 27 Can anyone of you by worrying add a single hour to your life? 28 And why do you worry about clothes? See how the flowers of the field grow. They do not labor or spin. 29 Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these. 30 If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you—you of little faith? 31 So do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ 32 For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. 33 But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. 34 Therefore, do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own."

Seeking God's best means prioritizing our relationship with God and aligning our lives with His righteousness. Therefore, when we face decisions, it’s essential to seek God's guidance. Seeking His guidance applies whether we have simple needs, like daily provisions, or significant challenges.

Additionally, in our interactions with others—especially those we may not get along with or like—we must uphold a high standard of conduct. Anything less falls short of what is truly God's best and, ultimately, is not in line with God's Will."
