Remove The Obstacles With Jesus' Promises

Remove The Obstacles With Jesus' Promises | March 21, 2026

While Bible scholars state there are more than 7,000 promises in the Bible, the blessing lies not in the quantity but in the guarantee of the One who pledges.

Psalm 18:30 declares, "God's way is perfect. All the LORD's promises prove true. He is a shield for all who look to him for protection."

Hebrews 10:23 states, "Let us hold tightly without wavering to the hope we affirm, for God can be trusted to keep his promise."

Second Corinthians 1:20 proclaims, "For all of God's promises have been fulfilled in Christ with a resounding ‘Yes!’ And through Christ, our 'Amen' (which means 'Yes') ascends to God for his glory."

It is these promises that support us through the storms and adversities of life. Whether we face personal struggles, such as illness, our own afflictions, or the loss of a loved one, God's promises will uphold us. Similarly, in our everyday fears and trepidations, God's promises will provide us with strength.

When Martha was drowning in the grief of losing her brother Lazarus, Jesus pointed her back to a promise He had made earlier.

John 11:38-44, “Then Jesus, deeply moved again, came to the tomb. It was a cave, and a stone lay against it. 39 Jesus said, ‘Take away the stone.’ Martha, the sister of the dead man, said to him, ‘Lord, by this time there will be an odor, for he has been dead four days.’ 40 Jesus said to her, ‘Did I not tell you that if you believed you would see the glory of God?’ 41 So they took away the stone. And Jesus lifted up his eyes and said, ‘Father, I thank you that you have heard me. 42 I knew that you always hear me, but I said this on account of the people standing around, that they may believe that you sent me.’ 43 When he had said these things, he cried out with a loud voice, ‘Lazarus, come out.’ 44 The man who had died came out, his hands and feet bound with linen strips, and his face wrapped with a cloth. Jesus said to them, ‘Unbind him, and let him go.’ ”

The stone at the tomb and Lazarus’s grave cloths symbolize obstacles, particularly those related to death. As Martha learned, to overcome these challenges—such as fear, pain, and despair—we must believe in Jesus' promises.

What promise do you need to rely on today? Are you feeling fearful, vulnerable, confused, discouraged, overwhelmed, lustful, greedy, mean-spirited, or apathetic? Our Lord's promises remain unchanged. By faith, remove your obstacles with His promises today!
