Have you ever wondered about the untapped potential of your physical and mental strength? A fascinating study by Penn State University revealed that most people don't fully utilize their physical capabilities. This strength breakdown identified three key numbers, but what's truly intriguing is the strength that emerges in crises.

Your absolute strength is the highest amount of weight your tendons, muscle fibers, and bones can handle. It cannot be exceeded or realistically reached.
Your maximal strength is the lowest amount of weight you can lift consciously in a controlled environment, such as a gym. Studies have shown that most people's maximal strength is about 66% of their absolute strength. For example, if someone's absolute strength is 300 pounds, their maximal strength would be about 200 pounds. Training can close this gap by up to 80%.

The most interesting number is the strength that appears when the body competes between its maximal and absolute strength. When facing a crisis, such as a child trapped under a car or in a competitive environment, the lifting power increases. Some athletes can lift up to 92% of their absolute strength during the most intense competitions. This raises the question: where does this strength come from? Similarly, in times of crisis, some individuals exhibit unusual strength. This also begs the question: where does this strength come from?

Paul's encouraging note to the church in Philippi reveals a reasonable yet supernatural explanation. To encourage them to persevere in their trials, which included poverty, persecution, and people drama, as well as his own struggles, under the supervision of the Holy Spirit, he wrote: "I can do all this through Christ who gives me strength" (Philippians 4:13). This reaffirms the belief that strength is found in faith.

See, God has given you a super gear to switch to in times of need. Psalm 139:14a declares, "I have been remarkably and wondrously made..." This verse would explain why a mom can lift a car to save her child trapped underneath. Even if she does not believe, God extends grace to her, and she exhibits ridiculous strength in her time of need. Thus, how much more is this strength available to those who know Christ?

As a child of God, you possess a reservoir of untapped strength waiting to be harnessed. Your faith empowers you to overcome difficulties, fulfill your responsibilities, alleviate burdens, and break free from chains. Remember, you can accomplish all things through Christ, who strengthens you!
