God Is Always On Duty

God Is Always On Duty | December 5th

A mother and her 8-year-old daughter were getting ready for bed. The child was afraid of the dark, and that night, the mother felt a bit fearful too, being alone with her daughter. As the lights went out, the child caught a glimpse of the moon shining outside the window.

"Mother," she asked, "is the moon God's light?" "Yes," the mother replied.
The next question was, "Will God put out His light and go to sleep?" The mother replied, "No, my child, God never goes to sleep." Then, from the simplicity of a child's faith, she reassured the fearful mother, "Well, as long as God is awake, there is no sense in both of us staying awake."

You never have to worry about God missing a shift or calling out sick. Nor do you need to be concerned about God sleeping in or taking a sabbatical from His providential care for you because He is always on duty!

As the little girl discovered, we must embrace the unwavering belief that God is always present and attentive. He is fully aware of your anxieties and sleepless nights, as well as your concerns and fears. Therefore, trust in His consistency and rest in His promises that are declared in the Holy Scriptures.

Psalm 121:1-8, "I lift up my eyes to the mountains—where does my help come from? 2 My help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth. 3 He will not let your foot slip—he who watches over you will not slumber; 4 indeed, he who watches over Israel will neither slumber nor sleep. 5 The Lord watches over you— the Lord is your shade at your right hand; 6 the sun will not harm you by day, nor the moon by night. 7 The Lord will keep you from all harm—he will watch over your life; 8 the Lord will watch over your coming and going both now and forevermore."
