Serving Behind The Scenes

Serving Behind The Scenes | November 6, 2025
You may have heard the phrase "working behind the scenes." This expression refers to individuals who contribute significantly to an organization, team, home, or even a church, even when their efforts are not visible to others.
Although their attitude is humble and they are not seeking recognition, it is essential to acknowledge those who work quietly and without the fanfare of attention and accolades, yet make a meaningful and tangible difference. As we approach Thanksgiving in just three weeks, let's take a moment to think of at least three people who fit this description—individuals who serve behind the scenes.
For me, one of those remarkable individuals is my wife, Jen. For over 23 years, she has tirelessly served in our Children’s Ministry, Youth Ministry, and Women’s Ministry. These responsibilities come in addition to her full-time teaching career and being a dedicated mom. Today, I know I speak for many people connected to our church and our family when I say we are especially thankful for Jen. Today is her birthday, and just like every other day, she will be working hard behind the scenes.
Colossians 3:23-24 tells us "Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters, 24 since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving."
Understanding this, aim to work diligently regardless of whether anyone is watching. Prepare yourself for moments when you might feel forgotten, overlooked, or even slighted. Remember, God sees your faithful dedication and commitment, and in due time, you will reap the rewards of your efforts, even if they go unnoticed by others.
