Release Control Of Your Circumstances

Release Control Of Your Circumstances  | June 30th

A lady shared a personal story about a challenging season in her life. She writes,"I  had just finished college and a special training program, eager to land my first job.  However, after several unanswered applications and unsuccessful interviews, I began to get down.  A few promising opportunities emerged, but one in particular in a state I wanted to move to didn't pan out. As I approached year three, I started to feel increasingly frustrated, as if I were wasting away with each passing day.  It was in this stretch that I finally surrendered and released control of my circumstances to God.  I decided to stop looking and start praying more about where God wanted me to be.  About three months later, I received an email in my Inbox from a recruitment agency that wanted to schedule an interview for what I quickly realized was my dream job, offering nearly double the salary I had previously sought. Not only did I get the job, but they also provided a small signing bonus! Now, half a year into my new position, I am reminded of the importance of letting go of control and waiting for God's timing. If I had accepted one of the other jobs, I would have never thought to pray that prayer of surrender."
We will also experience adversity and barrenness. However, if we are willing to trust God and surrender, we will see breakthroughs, but on His terms and in His time.
I believe David was a prime example of this in the Scriptures. On numerous occasions, he could have sought revenge on Saul and taken the throne. I would also say that nobody would have faulted him for taking matters into his own hands, as his own troops certainly encouraged him to do so. Nevertheless, David waited for God's time and trusted His control. And we need to do the same. In First Samuel 24:12, David said to Saul during their meeting in the cave, “May the Lord judge between us. Perhaps the Lord will punish you for what you are trying to do to me, but I will never harm you."
Put your mind at ease and live by the truth that "The battle belongs to the Lord."
