Your Most Influential Hour Of The Week

Your Most Influential Hour Of The Week | September 7, 2025

One of the first members of our church shared with me, before his passing, that attending church on Sunday had become the most influential hour of his week. He continued to explain that he didn't always hold that perspective, but after trusting in Christ, being baptized, and discovering profound meaning in connecting with other believers, he felt compelled to do his best to attend church every Sunday, despite facing several health challenges.
This belief has significant practical wisdom, and it would be wise for us to adopt it. Scripture does not just recommend or suggest regular participation in church; it explicitly commands it because of the many spiritual benefits this practice can bring to our lives and how it positions us for growth.
Hebrews 10:23-25 says, "Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for he who promised is faithful. 24 And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, 25 not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near."
The context of these verses reveals that discouragement caused people to consider wavering in their hope and their fellowship, particularly in church with other believers.   You may have noticed that your problems will try to push you into the corners of hopelessness and isolation. When these feelings come, fight back with faithfulness to what God has commanded and instructed concerning hope and your spiritual home base, which is the church. Remember that, like the church member we mentioned at the top, Sunday at church can be the most influential hour of your week. From this time, you regain hope and find the help you need to move forward.
Likewise, if you know someone being pounded by their problems and wavering, prayerfully and tactfully see how you can encourage them along and experience their most influential hour of the week.
Have a great and influential time at church today!
