Forty Days To Finish Well

Forty Days To Finish Well | November 22, 2025
When you read the Scriptures, you will notice certain consistencies. This is remarkable considering that the Bible was written by more than forty authors across three continents over approximately 2000 years.
One of the incredible regularities in the Bible is the use of numbers, particularly the number 40, which appears in over 145 contexts. For example, in the Old Testament, God caused it to rain for 40 days and 40 nights (Genesis 7:12). Moses spent 40 years in the desert and also spent 40 days on Mount Sinai (Exodus 24:18). He interceded on Israel's behalf for 40 days and 40 nights (Deuteronomy 9:18). Additionally, the Israelites spied the land of Canaan for 40 days (Numbers 13:25). They wandered in the desert for 40 years (Deuteronomy 8:2-5). Goliath taunted Israel for 40 days until David defeated him (1 Samuel 17:16). The number 40 also appears in the prophecies of Ezekiel and the story of Jonah. The New Testament states that Jesus was tempted for 40 days and nights (Matthew 4:2), and there were 40 days between His resurrection and ascension (Acts 1:3).
The number 40 is a fascinating concept that can serve as both a focal point and a reminder of our goals. According to the calendar, there are 40 days left in 2025. Therefore, I want to dedicate the next 40 days to striving for a strong finish. Here are some keywords that I want to define in my next 40 days: Consistency, Durability, Responsibility, Integrity, Endurance, Kindness, Purpose, Generosity, Truthfulness, and Thankfulness.
By God's grace, I will strive to achieve these goals and finish the year strong, and I invite you to do the same. Take this time to focus intensely on the words, steps, and actions that can lead to transformation and help you achieve a successful conclusion to the year!
Second Timothy 4:7, "I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith."
