Don't Take Your Faith And Freedom For Granted

Don't Take Your Faith And Freedom For Granted | November 16, 2025

A report published by Open Doors Ministries, which documents and supports the work of persecuted churches worldwide, highlights that there are places where being a Christian is truly perilous. These regions include Afghanistan, Iran, Pakistan, Nigeria, Eritrea, Sudan, Libya, Yemen, Somalia, and North Korea.

In some of these locations, ordinary actions such as carrying a Bible, attending church, or wearing a cross can result in losing your freedom and, in some cases, even your life.
It is essential to recognize that the freedoms associated with our faith, which we often take for granted, are the same reasons why some of our brothers and sisters in Christ are enduring heartbreaking persecution.

We should not only pray for the persecuted church but also make the most of every opportunity that God presents for our spiritual growth.
If any group should deeply value freedom and faith, it is the true Bible-believing Christians.

See, Christ has freed us from the bondage of sin and the sentence of death. However, we have not been set free to act selfishly; instead, we are called to serve God's purposes.

Galatians 5:13 says, "You, my brothers and sisters, were called to be free. But do not use your freedom to indulge the flesh; rather, serve one another humbly in love".

And First Peter 2:16 states, "Live as people who are free, not using your freedom as a cover-up for evil, but living as servants of God".

These points reinforce the responsibility that accompanies the blessing of freedom. Living in America has granted us freedoms regarding our faith that many people in the regions mentioned would desire. While some individuals attempt to revise history and deny the Christian foundations of our nation, we should be especially grateful for our freedom in America and, more importantly, our freedom in Christ.

Given these facts and our understanding of the freedoms entrusted to us in Christ, we should never take our faith and freedom for granted. Think engaging in activities like reading Scripture, attending a Bible study, participating in a prayer meeting, or going to church today as a way to honor the blessings of faith and freedom that you have.

To God be the glory for the blessings we sometimes take for granted, and may we have a greater awareness of our spiritual wealth.
