God's promises bring comfort that transcends adversity & affliction. Psalm 119.50 says;
"This is my comfort in my affliction, that your promise gives me life."
That is precisely how the return of Christ will be received when God's plan to send His Son a second time unfolds. As the world is in a state of chaos & judgment, God will fulfill the greatest promise since Christ's birth. Revelation 19.11 tells us;
"I saw heaven st&ing open & there before me was a rider on a horse, whose rider is called Faithful & True. With justice he judges & wages war."
Earlier in Revelation, the heavens opened up to let John in to see the vision. Now the heavens are opening up to let Jesus out!. After God has unleashed an unprecedented judgment upon the earth & leveled the antichrist's capital empire, He will send His Son to return majestically.
In His first coming, Christ came in humiliation. He was born in a dirty feeding trough, grew up poor, & entered the Holy City on a donkey (Zechariah 9.9). Even His atoning & sacrificial death on the cross was a public spectacle & a disgrace. However, His second coming will be completely different. Like a victorious Roman general, Christ will ride on a white horse. The color of the horse also symbolizes His perfect, flawless, & spotless character. His description as being " faithful & true" is absolutely fitting for two reasons.
(1) He is faithful to fulfill all that God has promised
"For all of God's promises have been fulfilled in Christ with a resounding "Yes!" & through Christ, our "Amen" (which means "Yes") ascends to God for his glory.” — 2 Corinthians 1.20
(2) He is the st&ard for God's truth.
"I am the way & the truth & the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” — John 14.6
Also, John tells us that He is coming to drop the hammer on evil. God's promise to utterly defeat the antichrist through His Son's return is as sure as His promises of grace & salvation. As a believer in Christ, you will watch the exalted return of the Lord from the victory side of the cross. 1 Corinthians 1.9 says;
"God is ever true to His promises, & it was by Him that you were, one & all, called into fellowship with his Son Jesus Christ, our Lord.”
