Core Principle

Forgiveness is the core of both the Lord’s Prayer and our faith. We ask God to forgive us our debts, because of our sin against God, and we ask God to help us forgive others as their debts and trespasses have occurred against us. The challenge in receiving and releasing forgiveness is in the motivation behind it. We want to be sure that we are not seeking God’s forgiveness, or forgiving others for manipulative reasons. Forgiveness is such an important principle in our pursuit of God, that God has shown us His understanding of forgiveness in the portion of the Bible that we know as the Our Father
